LEA wins Lived Experience Leadership Award

Lived Experience Australia has been recognised for "Lived Experience Leadership - Making a difference with and for consumers and carers" at this year's TheMHS Conference Annual Award Ceremony.

Due to COVID restrictions, the ceremony - originally due to be held in Melbourne, was held virtually.

In South Australia, where our head office is, we were able to gather a team of supporters together to watch the ceremony and be there for the announcement of our winning entry. Many of our Board and other staff watched the ceremony from their home states, and celebrated with us in spirit.

Newly appointed Executive Director, Professor Sharon Lawn, and LEA Founder and Strategic Advisor, Ms Janne McMahon OAM, accepted the award on behalf of the organisation.

We are grateful to TheMHS Learning Network for recognition of our work, and thanks especially to all of you who support us by sharing your lived experience, allowing us to learn from you and take these things that matter to you into our advocacy.

You can read more about the award in our press release below.

Lived Experience Australia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of all the lands on which we undertake our advocacy.

We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We also recognise all those with lived experience of mental ill-health. We acknowledge that we can only provide leadership in systemic advocacy through valuing, respecting, and drawing upon their lived experience expertise and knowledge.

We acknowledge their enormous contribution to our work.
