Lived Experience Australia welcomes the launch last week of the international first National Mental Health Commission's national strategy for children's mental health and wellbeing.

This is the first time a national government has developed a strategy that considers mental health and wellbeing outcomes for children from birth to 12 years of age, as well as their families and communities who nurture them.

“We congratulate the Government and the National Mental Health Commission on this crucial strategy for the mental health of all Australians, especially our young people,” said Professor Sharon Lawn, Executive Director “and having a focus on the four identified areas will go a long way to providing the necessary tools to keep our kids well now and into the future”.

Lived Experience Australia acknowledges the Traditional Owners of all the lands on which we undertake our advocacy.

We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging.

We also recognise all those with lived experience of mental ill-health. We acknowledge that we can only provide leadership in systemic advocacy through valuing, respecting, and drawing upon their lived experience expertise and knowledge.

We acknowledge their enormous contribution to our work.
